SEPTA Keeps Food Drive Rolling One More Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA is keeping its annual food drive on track for one more day.

The "Stop Hunger at Your Station" campaign was supposed to end this past Friday, but SEPTA hopes a visit to the grocery store over the weekend for passengers leads to extra donations for Philabundance today.

Spokeswoman Heather Redfern says they are looking to capitalize as people try to find ways to give.

"They're starting to look towards the holidays and how they can help others," she says, "so they're digging in their cupboards and making extra pickups at the supermarket and hoping to help make the holidays a little better for our neighbors in need."

SEPTA riders can bring those canned goods to 43 stations, including 30th Street, Jefferson and Suburban in Center City. SEPTA hopes to top the 18 tons of food the transit agency collected last year.

Monetary donations for Philabundance can also be made at SEPTA's website.
