Temple Remains Ranked Following Close Loss To Notre Dame

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Temple Owls did not have much to lose going up against Notre Dame on Saturday night. Everything they have done this season has exceeded expectation and no one was expecting anything much greater than a respectable performance against the Fighting Irish.

In fact, a lot of people were expecting much worse.

One thing the Owls did stand to lose was their national ranking. A blowout win for Notre Dame might have knocked Temple out of the Top 25, but Temple pushed the Fighting Irish to the brink and managed to possess a lead with under 3 minutes in the game.

That showing kept Temple among college football's best programs as the were ranked No. 23 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll on Sunday.

Temple fell two spots in the AP Poll and one spot in the Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame came into the game ranked No. 9 on both lists and remained in that spot in the Coaches Poll while jumping up to No. 8 in the AP Poll.
