West Chester Hosts Bloomsburg For Homecoming Saturday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Division II West Chester Golden Rams will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon as they host Bloomsburg for Homecoming in a critical Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game.

The Golden Rams (4-3 overall, 3-1 in PSAC East) had their four-game winning streak snapped last weekend as they lost on the road at Shippensburg, 27-11.

"A lot of mistakes," West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan tells KYW Newsradio. "Some penalties down deep - on the one-yard line going in and on the two-yard line going in. Penalties basically on the same drive. We don't get the ball in and we end up throwing an interception on the third down there. All those pieces came together early and then we just had too many turnovers, too many mistakes and we put our defense in really tough positions, even though they played very well, but they were in bad field position a lot of the game."

West Chester actually outgained Shippensburg last week, 402-275, but they finished with four turnovers while forcing just one.

Bloomsburg will bring a 5-2 record in John A. Farrell Stadium on Saturday and they are 4-0 in the PSAC East, which has them alone at the top of the division.

"Real good football team," Zwaan says. "They do the same things they've been doing for years. They're real good running the football and they're going to try to pound you. They mix in the pass well. What they do in the passing game they're good at. They don't try to do a whole lot, but it's based a lot off of their running game."

Zwaan says his offense will have its work cut out in this one.

"Defensively is where they win," Zwaan says. "Because their offense can keep the ball and control time of possession, their defense goes out there and plays hard and they give you a lot of different things to look at."

Last year West Chester lost to the Huskies, 41-10, up in Bloomsburg.

Saturday's game will kickoff at 2:00pm.
