Cops: Couple's Selfies On Stolen iPad Leads To Their Arrest

VOORHEES, NJ (CBS) – A couple was arrested after they allegedly took selfies on a stolen iPad.

Police say on October 13, a female reported that her iPad was taken from her vehicle, which was left unlocked, parked outside of the Starbucks on Rt. 73.

During the investigation, the victim told police that pictures of a man and woman surfaced through her iCloud account.

Lt. Joseph Friel says, "She contacted us a second time and advised us that pictures popped up on her iCloud, pictures of a male and female that she did not recognize in what you would consider a selfie pose."

"The picture shows them very close together holding the iPad, obviously taking a selfie... and the male was giving a gesture with his finger, an inappropriate gesture into the camera."

Authorities were able to identify the couple in the selfies with assistance from the Lindenwold Police Department.

Voorhees Police arrested the two and recovered the stolen iPad, which will be returned the owner.

Lt. Friel says, "It would've been a very tough case to solve without these pictures going on to the iCloud."

Police say 38-year-old Lawrence Segers III is charged with 3rd degree burglary and 4th degree theft. Katoyia Williams, 26, is also charged
with 3rd degree burglary and 4th degree theft.

They were both lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of bail, police say.

Residents say it's "karma."
