Jason Kelce Explains The Superstitious Doll In Lane Johnson's Locker

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles are sort of taking a page, or a scene if you will, out of the popular baseball movie Major League.

Similarly to Pedro Cerrano's good luck doll Jobu in the film, Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson has hung a Jason Kelce doll in his locker room. The doll brought the Eagles---specifically the offensive line---good luck last Sunday, as the team won 39-17 behind 186 rushing yards and zero sacks allowed by the line.

"Apparently the whole thing that Lane told me is that we needed to make a sacrifice before the game to get the Gods on our side," Kelce told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show during his weekly Friday call-in. "So, I think he's gonna keep sacrificing it. I don't know what he has planned this week, but we'll see what the big fella has planned."

Kelce also cut his hair, something that has become a staple of his popular image in Philadelphia. His mom suggested maybe that was the good luck charm.

"No," Kelce said, "It's because we block people mom.

"I am not [superstitious], but we do have quite a few guys on the team that are superstitious apparently," Kelce said.

Not only is Kelce not superstitious, but regarding the college rumors surrounding his head coach, he's not worried either.

"No, not at all [laughing]," Kelce said when asked about if he was worried Chip Kelly would go back to college. "I'm zero percent worried about Chip Kelly going to USC. We just go about our job. We understand he's a highly wanted coach because he's been very successful on all levels now, but we feel very confident that he's gonna put us in the best position to wins games and it all starts this Monday night."

What about excited? The Eagles have a critical NFC East clash on Monday Night against the first-placed Giants. Kelce must have a little extra excitement just a few days before the game.

"Playing the Giants is definitely---you take each game like it's one game at a time and the opponent doesn't matter, it's all about yourself," Kelce explained. "But the reality of the fact is that the Giants do matter, they're an in-division opponent and right now we're behind them."
