Temple Football Announces Game vs. Notre Dame Is Sold Out

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Coming into football season in Philadelphia, if someone told you one team between the Eagles and the Temple Owls, would be 5-0 and the other would be 2-3, who would you have picked to be the undefeated one?

There is no shame in saying the Eagles, because most of us would.

The football community in this city has been in for quite the surprise this season and supporters of the Owls have been in for a real treat. This team is 5-0 on the season and each week, they are proving that this is not a fluke. Temple University actually has a really good program.

On Tuesday, the team announced that their Halloween match up with No. 14 Notre Dame has already sold out.

The game will mark the first time the two teams have faced one another in Philadelphia. This achievement also stands as the first time Temple has sold out two home football games in a single season since moving their games to the South Philadelphia sports complex in 1976.

Temple football has become one of the hottest tickets in the city since they upset Penn State at Lincoln Financial Field to open the season.

Of course some of that sell-out can be attributed to the fact that Notre Dame has a national fan base unlike many other teams, but even so, the game is still over two weeks away and there is a buzz among Temple supporters about their football team.

If the Owls can beat their next two opponents (UCF, East Carolina), they will have a big time match up against a nationally ranked program with a chance to advance to 8-0 on the season.

This has undoubtedly been a special year for the Cherry and the White.
