Philly Business Victimized Days After Owner Stabbed Almost 30 Times

By Steve Patterson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia business has been victimized again, just days after the owner was stabbed close to 30 times.

This marks the second time since Thursday criminals invaded Southwest Auto Tag Services at 63rd Street and Dicks Avenue.

The fresh crime is causing outrage.

"You talk about low lifers, that's it," says family friend David Coletta. "Scumbags. Robbed the building while the man's in the hospital."

Saturday morning Coletta woke up to his friend's business a marked crime scene, broken into less than 48 hours after the owner – 63-year-old Patrick Spinosa -- was critically stabbed during a robbery.

Police say the crooks pushed in an air conditioning unit to enter the building and trashed it. It's unclear at this time if anything was stolen.

"The place is tore up even more than it was," Coletta says. "We're gonna seal the whole building now, and we're never opening it again."

After four decades of family ownership, Coletta says this latest crime is the last. The family is now forced to board up 40 years of memories and community service due to three days of pain and sadness.

"Maybe God's telling us something," Coletta says. "That's the way we look at it."

Spinosa remains in the hospital in what authorities are describing as extremely critical condition.
