Two Officers Injured In Car Crash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two officers have been hospitalized after a car crash early Tuesday morning.

Police say the accident happened around 2 am at Bartram Avenue and Holstein Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. The vehicle was traveling West on Bartram Avenue when they crashed into a tree.

Authorities say one male officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with neck and back pain. He is in stable condition.

The other officer was female, she was also taken to the hospital with a broken leg and other injuries.

Police say the male officer was the driver of the vehicle and the female officer was sitting in the front passenger seat.

The cause of the single car crash is unclear and police are looking into mechanical issues of the SUV.
