Sixers Lose To Wizards 129-95 In Preseason Action

WASHINGTON (AP) — Otto Porter scored 22 points, Bradley Beal had 19 and the Washington Wizards took control in the second half to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 129-95 on Tuesday night in the preseason opener for both teams.

Porter shot 8 of 10 and made all four 3-point attempts. Living up to offseason expectations of taking more shots from beyond the arc, Washington sank 15 of 26.

Rookie center Jahlil Okafor scored 12 points in his NBA debut for Philadelphia. Isaiah Canaan and Nerlens Noel each had 13.

John Wall had 10 points and nine assists in 20 minutes for the Wizards. His backup, Ramon Sessions, finished with 11 points and 10 assists.

76ERS: Okafor, the No. 3 overall pick from Duke, made all four of his first-quarter field goal attempts. ...Guard Nik Stauskas, acquired from the Sacramento Kings this offseason, is out two weeks with a right tibia stress reaction.

WIZARDS: Seven players scored in double figures, including Gary Neal with 13 points. Nene added 12 points in 21 minutes off the bench. DeJuan Blair scored 12 points in only six minutes. ... Forward Kris Humphries started and sank two 3-pointers. Drafted in 2004, Humphries has not made a 3-pointer during a regular-season game since his rookie season. ...The Wizards had 36 assists on 48 field goals.

DEBUT ON HOLD: Rookie Kelly Oubre Jr., the No. 15 pick, did not play after turning his ankle Monday, Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. Washington acquired the Kansas product during a draft day trade.

UP NEXT: The 76ers return home to face the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. The Wizards host the New York Knicks on Friday.
