Matthew McConaughey Hypes Up Redskins Before Defeating Eagles

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are a lot of reasons why the Eagles loss to the Redskins. The offense was inconsistent. The defense faltered down the stretch and field goals look like they're going to be an adventure all year.

To top it all off, the Redskins had help from Matthew McConaughey.

The actor was in town for charitable commitment on Saturday night in conjunction with the Redskins. McConaughey, a Redskins fan, had the chance to speak with the team on Saturday night.

"I don't know what his message was, man," Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden said according to the team's website. "I just know everyone was looking at him in awe. He's a heck of a guy, a big Redskins fan. He got the team fired up, and if we have to fly him in [to Atlanta] we will. That's up to Dan [Snyder]."

Redskins DB Trenton Robinson seemed fired up to have McConaughey around:

The Eagles might want to put in a call to Bradley Cooper to see if he can stop by the Novacare Complex this week.
