Cleanup Plan For Camden County Superfund Site

GIBBSTOWN, N.J. (CBS) -- A Camden County, New Jersey superfund site is about to get a $14-million cleanup.
The old Sherwin-Williams plant in Gibbsboro has been closed since 1977. There's been debate for years about what to do with the contamination left behind by lead, arsenic and other chemical compounds.
This week, the Environmental Protection Agency finalized the general terms of a cleanup plan in Gibbsboro and neighboring Voorhees.
"This particular phase will address contaminated soil at residential properties," Elisa Rodriguez, an EPA spokesman, told KYW Newsradio. "Right now, we've identified approximately 33 residential properties that we sampled for and determined that need remedial action."
There is still the question of cleanup specifics and what to do at the closed plant itself, not to mention signs of pollutants in a nearby creek.
It's expected Sherwin-Williams will foot the bill for the work.
