Former Eagles Player Herb Lusk Reads Scripture During Festival Of Families

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Herb Lusk played running back for the Eagles from 1976-78. His passion on the gridiron transitioned into a passion for his faith.

Lusk became a senior pastor at the Greater Exodus Baptist Church in 1982. He stills holds the position.

On Saturday night during the Festival of Families, Lusk had the responsibility of sharing scripture with the thousands in attendance, including Pope Francis looking on from the back of the stage.

Lusk read from Luke 15 to share the story of the Prodigal Son with the audience.
