No Shortage Of 'Pope Swag' In Philadelphia

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A lot of vendors are trying to make an extra buck this weekend by selling Pope-themed paraphernalia all throughout Philadelphia.

'Pope Swag' is available everywhere, including outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center where the World Meeting of Families is taking place:

"We're selling Pope memorabilia, souvenirs."

"What I'm selling is T-shirts -- 'I love the Pope' -- two for $25 or $15 a piece."

"We have Pope flags with the Vatican symbol and we have buttons."

One woman had bottles of water with personalized labels on them:

"I printed everything up and made them and people love them and they're only $2!"

Vendors tell KYW Newsradio they were enjoying the day, having fun meeting people, while making a little cash:

"I'm out here enjoying the festivities and the love of Philadelphia."

"It's the American way. Buy and sell!"

But not everyone is necessarily selling something. This artist was asking for public participation on large panels picturing the Pope:

"Well, this is a signature exhibit. I branded it 'Popeadelphia'."

In addition to signatures on his artwork, he asked for donations to the Creative Kids Scholarship Foundation.
