Eagles Sign Quarterback Thad Lewis, Waive Stephen Morris

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Monday, the Eagles made a minor roster shakeup as they continue to straighten out the third-string quarterback situation. The team announced the signing of quarterback Thad Lewis, and the release of quarterback Stephen Morris.

Morris was added following final roster cuts this season which included the release of Tim Tebow. Morris was let go by the Jaguars.

Lewis was originally an undrafted rookie out of Duke. While playing for the Blue Devils, Lewis passed for 10,065 yards to go along with 67 touchdowns. He signed with the Rams in 2010 where he played under Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Later in his rookie year, Lewis was picked up by the Browns off waivers. He made his first start for Cleveland in 2012 against the Steelers.

Lewis started in five games for the Bills in 2013 winning two of them.

In seven career NFL games, Lewis has a 81.4 quarterback rating, 1,295 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions.

Also on Monday, the Eagles signed tight end Chris Pantale to the practice squad and released tight end Connor Hamlett.
