DeMarco Murray Is Gearing up To Face The Cowboys

By Ed Benkin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- DeMarco Murray put together an impressive four-year run with the Dallas Cowboys. However, Sunday's game will be business as usual for the former Dallas running back.

As the Eagles get set to take on Dallas at the Linc on Sunday, Murray is downplaying any kind of revenge factor as he goes against his former teammates. Murray says this week has been just like any other week of work for both himself and his teammates.

"I'm just approaching it like any other week," said Murray. "Obviously, we're coming off a disappointing loss from this past week. We got a chance to look at the film. We did some good things and we did some bad things, but we corrected it. We've got to learn from it and move on."

Murray also had to dodge the media backdrop (:40 second mark)!

"Not top-10," Murray joked.

Head Coach Chip Kelly agrees, Murray isn't changing his routine during the week. Kelly says it is a reflection of Murray's personality as he keeps his focus on the task at hand.

"I think DeMarco's a very grounded individual," Kelly said. "He's pretty consistent in his approach every day that he's here. He's not an up-and-down guy. I think sometimes it just depends on the individual, but he's been fine. We'll monitor him just like we monitor all our players this week, but I haven't seen any change in him because it's Dallas week and he played for Dallas."

VOTE: How many rushing yards will Murray have against the Cowboys?

While much of the attention will be focused on Murray this weekend, the Eagles are facing a critical test in the early part of the season. After losing in Atlanta on Monday night, they will look to avoid an 0-2 start as well as a defeat at the hands of a division opponent. There is also the element of the rivalry with the hated Cowboys in town. Wide Receiver Jordan Matthews said they have to block out all of the distractions when they take the field on Sunday.

"We try and take this thing day-to-day," said Matthews. "Once we get to the Cowboys game, outside of this, it's this huge thing, but at the end of the day, we just have to execute. To us, it's Eagles vs. Eagles. We can only beat ourselves."

Murray will likely need to play a huge role on Sunday if the Eagles are to come out victorious. Murray was held to nine yards rushing last week, and Kelly is expected to try and get him back on track. For Murray, it's still all about the business of football.

"It's week two," Murray said. "No matter who it is, I'm going to do the same thing I've been doing leading up to the week. I'm not going to do anything different for my preparation. We're going to do what we do. We're going to run our plays and go from there."
