Can't Find The Words? Use A Popemoji To Show Your Excitement For Papal Visit

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you can't find the words to express your excitement for Pope Francis' upcoming visit, there's a new app to help you say it with emojis.

Pope Francis arrives in Philadelphia next weekend, but Popemojis are available for your smartphone today.

Kathleen Hessert is the founder of Sports Media Challenge, the company overseeing app's digital efforts.

"We wanted to be in the social chat environment and thought the best way to do this, as emojis were growing in popularity, was create a special Pope emoji set."

The keyboard app features 52 Pope-themed images and 14 animated GIFs, like the Pope running up the Art Museum steps, taking a selfie, and eating a cheesesteak.

"We created these wonderful, whimsical emojis that we think are right up the alley of Pope and his fun and humble demeanor, and approach to digital media."

The emojis were commissioned by global Catholic network Aleteia.org as a part of the "Good is Winning" campaign.

"It started with the thought how do we how do we capture the young and help them express the joy that Pope Francis expresses in a different environment, and it has spread to much older and much younger."

Hessert says the app has been downloaded in every country except Antarctica, and more than 235,000 Pope emojis have been sent all over the world.

The app is free and available for Apple and Android devices.
