Weather: One More Hot And Humid Day Before Rain Moves In

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some cooler weather and much needed rain are on the way, but first Philadelphia will have to get through one more sultry day.

The heat and humidity will persist again on Wednesday, under a mix of sun and clouds. With a high of 90 expected, today would solidify the 6th official heat wave of 2015. There is a slight chance of a pop up storm during the late afternoon, primarily north and west of the city. Much more significant rain is on tap for Thursday. Clouds will thicken tonight as a cold front moves in from the west, bringing some beneficial rains to the region on Thursday; some places could pick up over an inch of rain! After not seeing any measurable rainfall since August 20th, it will be welcomed with open arms by many, especially farmers and allergy sufferers!

The cold front will move out by early Friday morning, ushering in much cooler air straight through the weekend.
