Hear Philly: The Shore Thing - Wildwood Goes Irish, Classic Cars and a Little Bit Of Country

WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) - Shore season is unofficially over, but September is one of the busiest months in the Wildwoods.
John Siciliano with the Greater Widwoods Tourism Authority says mid-month, the New Jersey State Fireman's Convention returns:
"There's 7,000 delegates that have to meet for their business session, which is mandated by statute. They come down and when they're here, I would say with the 7,000 delegates, there's probably up to 22,000 people that come -- a fireman brings his family and it is just a great weekend."
And Siciliano says a new event joins the fray that weekend as well:
"This year also in North Wildwood they decided they were going to try a country fest and we're going to see how that works because most of the time there's really no country music in Wildwood. We got behind this event and said let's see if we can get the firemen that are here as well as others to get down and enjoy that."
Both take place September 17th-19th.
And the same weekend the Pope comes to Philly, "one of our biggest weekends is that 24th-28th," Siciliano says.
That's because taking place that weekend is the Irish Fall Festival, the Boardwalk Classic Car Show and Auction in the Convention Center, and in Wildwood Crest is the Seafarers Weekend.
"Those three events team up to offer almost something for everybody," Siciliano says. "Everybody's Irish that weekend, everybody loves to walk on the Boardwalk to se these cars that go from one end to the other, and then Seafarers...there's vendors and fun things to do down around Sunset Lake.
And, as Siciliano points out, that also happens to be one of the biggest family weekends as well, including most of the Irish festivities:
"During the day you have music going all the time, and there's food. Seafarers Weekend is just another alternative where you, mom, dad, the kids can go and the environment is very family friendly. And the Boardwalk Classic Car Show, that's really a day thing, so it's a great weekend."
All three events take place the last weekend in September.
