Veteran Leaders Celek, Ryans Oozing With Confidence

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brent Celek and DeMeco Ryans have been around for awhile.

Celek, 30, is entering his ninth season---all with the Eagles. Ryans, 31, is entering his 10th season and fourth in Philadelphia. They are the respective leaders of the offense and defense, and neither could contain their excitement less than seven days from the Eagles' 2015 opener in Atlanta.

"I never played on a team that I love the guys as much as I do this year and I've said it many times before, but I love this team man," Celek told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Tuesday. "Not only on the football field, but outside the football field.

"I'll be honest with you," Celek continued. "The only thing I care about is winning a Super Bowl. That's all I want man. That's what this city deserves, that's what this team is working towards and we're gonna do everything that we can to go get it, man."

"You don't have any reason not to be [optimistic]," Ryans told the 94WIP Morning Show on Tuesday. "What we've shown so far with our offseason acquisitions and you see how guys play this preseason, I think our team definitely has every piece that we need. We have a great quarterback, good running backs. I feel like our o-line is really one of the best in the league and our defense is set to have a breakout year. Our team is looking really good man, we have to go out and prove it. We can't continue to talk about how good we gonna be, everything starts to happen for real this coming Monday."

Both Ryans and Celek raved over their new quarterback, Sam Bradford, as well.

"Sam is the man!" Ryans said. "I haven't seen a quarterback who can spin the ball like Sam does. Watching him in practice, he makes every throw and he makes it effortlessly. I just get excited. I love standing over there watching him just compete in practice. He's an outstanding quarterback man. We just have to protect him, keep him healthy. He can really shred some defenses. You can see why he was the number one pick overall in the draft because of the talent that he showed, mainly throughout the offseason and throughout training camp. And Sam is the real deal."

"He's an amazing quarterback," Celek said. "The guy's got a great arm, I mean I think everybody knows how good he is. The guy was a number one pick at one point in his career and he's had a string of injuries, but he's a great leader. Great quarterback, got all the skills. He can be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in my opinion."
