WEATHER: Final Day Of 5th Heat Wave Of The Summer

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 5th heat wave of 2015 will see it's final day on Thursday. But could another be in the making?

Expect yet another hot, steamy day across the Delaware Valley, under mainly sunny skies. Along with the heat and humidity, pollen levels are also high, and an air quality alert is in effect for most of New Jersey. Thursday will be a perfect day to seek some relief down at the shore, or perhaps in the pool if you are lucky enough to have one.

A weak cold front will approach on Friday and could set off a brief shower or thunderstorm. In passing though, it will lower the temperatures and the humidity, setting up for a terrific Labor Day weekend, with sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures do however begin to creep back up towards the 90 degree mark by Labor Day, which could very well wind up being the start of another heat wave!
