Police: Daycare Evacuated After Phoned In Bomb Threat

HOCKESSIN, Del. (CBS) – Police say a daycare in New Castle County was evacuated after someone called in a bomb threat.

Authorities say officers responded to the 1100 block of Valley Road just before noon on Thursday. It was reported that an unknown suspect called the daycare and alleged to have planted an explosive device and hung up.

Police say multiple units responded to the facility and evacuated all occupants to a nearby location and secured the facility.

Authorities say a K-9 searched the building and did give a positive indication of an explosive device. The New Castle County Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit then responded and determined the areas that the K9 indicated on did not actually have any explosive devices.

Officials say after an investigation, the building was reopened.

The incident is under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact New Castle County Police.
