Steamy September Start

By Geoffrey Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As we enter the final few weeks of summer, the season refuses to go down without a fight.

That's good news for those who enjoy the hot summer weather, as Tuesday will mark Philadelphia's 5th heat wave of 2015. Skies will be mostly sunny, with highs reaching the low 90s.

Elevated dew points will also give it an extra shot of steamy. In addition to the high temperatures and humidity, high pollen and ozone levels have led to an Air Quality Alert being issued today for southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It will be a good day to seek some relief at the pool or beach, or to just take it easy and enjoy some A/C.

This 5th and potentially last heat wave will last another two days, before the sultry temperatures break a bit on Friday with the passage of a weak cold front. That could also set of an isolated shower or thunderstorm, but otherwise the next seven days will likely stay dry as high pressure sits firmly in place over the Delaware Valley.
