What is your educational background?

"I earned my undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and my Masters of Business Administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University."

What is your background in management?

"Right after graduating from Pitt, I worked as a consultant at Deloitte Consulting, the largest professional services firm in the world. There I consulted large organizations like Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and the State of New Hampshire on technology and business processes.

Now I own my own firm, Wilson Insight, where I provide financial advice and business management services to professional athletes, entertainers and young executives."

How has your education fueled your management success?

"I always say that I am an engineer who happens to be in the financial industry now. My engineering degree gave me the foundation to be able to take complex problems and break them down to simpler, more manageable tasks. If you can solve problems and think critically, you can be successful in any industry.

My business degree provided me with the ability to understand all of the numbers associated with a business and the skill to communicate the meaning of the numbers into terms that my clients can understand easily."

What advice would you give someone just starting out in your field?

"I tell students or young professionals who want to get into financial advice or business management that there has never been a better time in the history of this planet to create a business centered around your expertise. Given all of the robust tools at their disposal to develop your brand and connect with potential customers, there is no need to wait for someone else's permission to create a life and business that you love."
