West Philly Man Shot Multiple Times After Answering Knock On Door

By Molly Daly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are searching the three young gunmen who forced a woman inside her West Philadelphia apartment building at gunpoint early Sunday morning, and used her to trick another resident into opening his door.

This happened around 1 a.m. on North 50th Street just above Market Street.

The woman, police say, who was sitting on the porch, was approached by three males, all armed with handguns. She says they told her to walk into the building, where, once inside, one of the guys knocked on an apartment door.

Authorities say when the man inside asked who it was, one of the gunmen told the woman to say something, so she said, "it's me."

When the door opened, one of the guys opened fire, hitting the man four times. The woman broke away and called 9-1-1.

The 55-year-old victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.
Police say the gunmen range in age from 17- 20. They don't know the motive behind the shooting.
