Man Killed In Violent Northeast Philly Car Crash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man is dead and his female passenger was injured after two cars collided overnight in Northeast Philadelphia.

This happened around 12:30 a.m. at Woodhaven and Thornton Roads.

Officials say the car flipped over and was crushed between the median and other car, trapping the victims, both in their early 50's. The female victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to officials.

Both roads were closed in the area of the accident throughout the overnight hours into early morning, but are now reopen.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
