NJ Skating Center Owner Accused Sexual Assault, Showing Pornography To Minor

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) -- Authorities say the owner of a skating center in South Jersey has been charged with criminal sexual contact with a child under 13 and other related offenses.

Officials say Carlo turned himself in to authorities on Monday. The Prosecutor Office's Major Crimes Unit conducted a four-week investigation after receiving allegations that a minor had been shown pornography on a laptop at Carlo's skating center.

Authorities say the investigation included search warrants executed at his business and residence.

The Prosecutor's Office say Carlo is incarcerated in default on $200,000 bail and charged with sexual assault, endangering, invasion of privacy and displaying obscene material to a minor.

Authorities say the invasion of privacy occurred when Carlo allegedly made a video recording when a child's "intimate parts were exposed without the child's consent and under circumstances in which a reasonable person would not expect to be observed."

Prosecutor's Office spokesman Bernie Weisenfeld says Carlo's charged with videotaping the one girl while she was in the office of the Franklin Skating Center. In terms of amount of victims, Weisenfeld added, "at this point there's one however the investigation is still open."

Weisenfeld says this went on from November of last year until last month.

Officials say a court-approved sex offense restraining order was issued, prohibiting Carlo from unsupervised contact with any minors.

Authorities ask anyone with information on Carlo videotaping minors, particularly at his skating center, to call Det. Warren Rivell at 856-384-5625.

An investigation is ongoing.
