PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The gangsta rap drama, Straight Outta Compton, repeated its strong showing and made it two weeks in a row as the nation's top movie attraction by earning $27-million on its second weekend of release.
The runner-up was the hit sequel, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, which added $12-million to its cumulative total as it passed the $150-million mark.
Those two holdovers topped the three debuting titles.
The horror-thriller sequel, Sinister 2, placed third with a total of $11-million.
The action thriller, Hitman: Agent 47, took in $8-million to finish fifth.
And the comic thriller, American Ultra, finished sixth with $6-million.
Overall, industry-wide totals were 10 percent lower than those on the counterpart late-August weekend last summer.
