DeMarco Murray Among Favorites To Lead League In Rushing
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- DeMarco Murray carried the ball 392 times for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2014 regular season (plus 44 postseason carries), en route to his league high 1,845 rushing yards.
Now, at age 27, Murray is entering his fifth NFL season and he's a Philadelphia Eagle. Murray has missed the Eagles' first preseason game and has been eased into practice by Chip Kelly and his sports science approach.
According to Bovada LV, Murray is one of the favorites to lead the NFL in rushing for a second straight year. In fact, Murray is tied with Jamaal Charles and Marshawn Lynch at 8/1 for the second shortest odds to be this season's rushing champ.
LeSean McCoy, traded from Philly to Buffalo this offseason, is right behind Murray on the list at 17/2. The favorite is, of course, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson at 7/2.
As for passing yards, new Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford-- who is returning from two straight ACL injuries---doesn't quite have those short odds. Bradford is 50/1 to lead the NFL in passing yards, a nice value play. Those odds are longer than 13 other quarterbacks, including Ryan Tannehill (33/1), Tony Romo (25/1), and Joe Flacco (25/1).
Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, now with the Rams, is 100/1. Andrew Luck is the favorite to the lead the league in passing at 4/1.
Another Eagle who is a 50/1 underdog to lead his NFL position group in yards, is second-year wide receiver Jordan Matthews. Coincidentally, former Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is also listed at 50/1, while ex-Eagle Jeremy Maclin is all the way down the list at 100/1.
The favorite is Antonio Brown at 11/2, while NFC East stars Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr. are both listed at 9/1.
