Amaro: Utley 'Very Likely' To Stay This Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Despite numerous trade rumors and reports swirling around Chase Utley, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. admitted the all-star second baseman is probably not going anywhere.

"As I told you before, it is very likely he'll be here in Philadelphia through the end of the year and then we'll see what happens after that," Amaro said on Tuesday.

Utley, who has been with the Phillies for his entire 13-year illustrious career, has a full no-trade clause. But are the trade offers not even good enough to present to Utley?

"That's something I don't really wanna comment on," Amaro said.

Is Utley being demanding in where he wants to go?

"That is something I don't really wanna comment on," Amaro reiterated.

"He's swinging the bat well for us," Amaro said of Utley. "Since he's come back, he's obviously played very well and swining the bat well and looks much more closely to what he has done in the past for us. And that's a good sign to see. [Phillies manager] Pete [Mackanin] will play him as he sees fit."
