Report: Giants Have Made Offer For Chase Utley

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The San Francisco Giants have reportedly made an offer for all-star Phillies second baseman Chase Utley, according to Bruce Jenkins of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Jenkins reported Giants general manager Bobby Evans said he was "'just waiting to hear' from the Phillies.'

Utley, 36, has a full no-trade clause. He is due $4 million for the rest of 2015 and an additional $2 million if his 2016 option is bought out.

Utley is 7-17 with three doubles since returning from the DL on August 7th. The six-time all-star and beloved Phillie has spent his 13-year entire career in Philadelphia, helping them his team to a World Series Championship in 2008.

The Giants (61-53) are in need of Utley, as their starting second baseman Joe Panik suffered a back injury on August 1st.
