Jurors Listen To Witness Testimony In Breakup Double Murder Trial

By Steve Tawa

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A jury is hearing witness and police testimony in the murder trial of a man accused of gunning down his girlfriend and her cousin on Valentine's Day in 2011.

Before the jury viewed crime scene photos, Judge Glenn Bronson told the prosecutor, "show me the probative incremental evidentiary value."

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Lipscomb replied, "they detailed a specific intent to kill." He's seeking a first degree murder conviction and the death penalty against 32-year old Shaun Warrick.

Earlier witnesses testified one of the victims, Tiffany Barnhill was breaking off her relationship with Warrick. She and her cousin, Marcedes Ivery, were shot and killed in separate upstairs bedrooms.

Crime Scene Unit Police Officer Robert Flade walked jurors through the Frankford house they processed; police recovered 14 fired cartridge casings.

Defense lawyer Jack McMahon sought to limit the number of crime scene photos shown to jurors. Judge Bronson agreed only those of essential value would be displayed to show evidence of criminal intent.

Just before jurors viewed photos of the victims, the prosecutor motioned to one of the victim's mothers and she left the courtroom, preferring not to view them.
