Geometry Used To Create Street Art In Fishtown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new mural in Fishtown was created by an artist with the help of some students using practical geometry.
The perfectly formed shapes add pops of color to a wall along Frankford Avenue. This is result of classroom study taken to the street.
Anaya Demota, 15, says the project opened a new chamber in her brain.
"Mr. MOMO has been teaching us a lot about geometry, circles, shapes and lines and how to configure them all into making something different," says Demota, "abstract and pretty cool, if you ask me."
MOMO is an artist who finds different ways to use household items to create art. He says he also learned a lot from the students.
"That's been the dream, is that they would take a look at this area of study and find new things that I hadn't."
He says many of the principles he's teaching the students are used every day by carpenters and masons.
