Blogger Defends Ranking Eagles As NFL's 'Most Depressing' Team

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When 43,000 fans showed up to the Eagles' second open practice at Lincoln Financial Field last Sunday, they sure didn't seem depressed. Did they?

Chris Chase, a controversial blogger of USA Today, ranked the Eagles as the most depressing team in the NFL. Chase, who took a dig at Rocky and fairly called Eagles fans "ringless" in his story, joined Angelo Cataldi on the 94WIP Morning Show Tuesday to defend his stance.

"Anytime the Eagles fan comes up to something, to a Redskin fan or a Cowboys fan or a Giants, all they have to do is hold up a certain number of fingers. And that represents the Super Bowls that the Eagles don't have," Chase explained. "And I know you all have heard about this a thousand times, but that's why I rated them number one because there is no trump card for Eagles fans to play.

"Now, there's plenty of teams that have never won a Super Bowl, but of the teams that have never won a Super Bowl the Eagles have been the best franchise over the past 50 now years, which is why they're more depressed."

Cataldi did get Chase to apologize for making fun of Rocky.

"I will apologize for the Rocky reference," Chase said. "I will say that I think it's still a pretty good line. However, yes, not being from Philly, it doesn't matter. That movie is great."
