Positively Philadelphia: Multiple Companies, One Shared Space

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Industrious Philadelphia, now open at 230 South Broad Street, is just the latest in a number of shared office spaces in the city.

"Industrious is so excited to be in Philly and to be part of the growing entrepreneurial world here," says community manager Kristine Chin. "There are so many co-working spaces now in the area. We all have such different personalities, and we target different audiences."

She says at least 15 industries are represented:

"It's a really great mixed bag of freelancing, startup companies with one or two people, up to satellite teams of regional and national brands. We have Instacart as one of our satellite offices from a national company that's here. We also have Veryapt which is a growing startup in this city. These companies sometimes occupy one big office or they'll have two offices next to each other. It's really what works for them."

There are the basics -- like internet and mail services provided -- and even more, Chin says:

"We also add amenities to make it feel like a place, you know, it's home, but you also feel a bit pampered like you are in a hotel. We have a fully stocked kitchen with tea, coffee, pastries, bagels, fruit, anything you need, basically, for snacking purposes."

You can rent space for several months, or even years.
