Celebrities Take To Twitter To React To GOP Debate

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The top ten contenders in recent national polls squared off in the first debate of the Republican primary season in Cleveland, Ohio Thursday night and no one held back.

Donald Trump was center stage and he came out swinging. Trump could not promise he would not run as an independent if he did not get the GOP nomination.

"I'm talking about a lot of leverage - we want to win, and we will win," said Trump.

Then when Megyn Kelly, a moderator, brought up Trump's portrayal of women, things really got interesting.

Kelly said on the FOX News debate, "You call women you don't like, "fat pigs," "dogs," "slobs" and "disgusting animals."'

To which Trump responded, "Only Rosie O'Donnell."

Rosie took to Twitter to respond to the jab:

Trump also wasn't pleased with the questions from Kelly. He tweeted:

Celebrities then took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the debate.

Comedian Patton Oswalt took shots at New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Dr. Ben Carson:

Actress Kirstie Alley shared her thoughts on the debate, tweeting:

Kathy Griffin also couldn't resist taking a jab at the New Jersey governor:

 

But not every celebrity was watching the GOP debate. Kim Kardashian West tweeted this photo with Hillary Clinton Thursday night:

CBS 3 Eyewitness News learned the first Democratic presidential debate will be held October 13th in Nevada.
