SEPTA Notifies Winners Of Papal Rail Pass Lottery

By Suzanne Monaghan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- People who entered the lottery for SEPTA passes for the Papal visit September 26th and 27th, started receiving notifications Thursday letting them know whether their request was granted.

SEPTA received requests for 328-thousand passes, so they still have 22-thousand available. However, that doesn't mean you can still get one for your preferred station.

"Right now we have a number of our regional rail stations that are definitely sold out." says Director of Media Relations Jerri Williams.

That's because some stations received requests that were four times greater than the 10-thousand tickets allotted at many stations. Williams says there will not be another online sale for tickets.

"We were going to make an announcement probably next Friday where those remaining passes are." says Williams. "And we will probably sell them at those stations or at our center city stations."

People who are eligible for passes have until midnight August 9th to pay, otherwise the tickets will be re-issued.

"Your invoice can not be changed." says Williams. "And so some people may not follow through on that transaction. If that's the case, then on Monday we'll send out a whole new set of emails to people saying, you now have been selected."
