Study: Spicy Food Linked To Longer Life

CHINA (CBS) -- Need a good reason to add a couple more dashes of hot sauce to your food?

A new study, published in the The BMJ medical journal, finds eating spicy food may help you live longer.

Researchers found people who eat spicy food every day have a 14 percent lower risk of death than those who eat it less than once a week.

The study found the pattern was similar in both men and women, and stronger in those who did not drink alcohol.

Researchers conducted the study using more than a half of a million adults from 10 geographically diverse areas across China.
