State Rep Warns Schools In Balance While Pa. Budget Standoff Continues

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With no sign of an end to the budget impasse ending, one state representative says schoolchildren have a lot at stake.

Democratic state representative Pam DeLissio of the 194th district brought a dozen public school children to her Roxborough office, to say that their schools need more...

"Our books are falling apart. We don't have enough. And the teachers have to buy their own supplies."

The state budget is more than a month late. With the governor holding firm on a gas extraction tax, and the GOP demanding liquor store privatization, DeLissio says there's no indication any budget agreement is near...

"I know it's a trite term about this common ground. But it's about truly listening to what the other side is saying, and finding where those movements can happen."

She doesn't expect a budget until the end of September.
