Local Little League Receives Generous Donation From Mystery Donor

By Cleve Bryan

CAMDEN, N.J., – It's easy to underestimate the power of a little leather ball.

Bryan Morton and his wife had a vision to make baseball a catalyst for change in North Camden.

"Our first year I can't even say we had a budget, me and my wife planned the league and we said hey if we can get people to pay something like 15 dollars we can buy baseball pants and pay for insurance," says Morton who founded the North Camden Little League.

The league has now grown to more than 520 kids from tee-ball through high school age.

The annual budget is covered through minimal player fees and a small pool of donors, including an anonymous donor whose given about $50,000 over the last few years.

As they prepare to expand to other parts of Camden, Morton says the league is looking for more financial support.

"Come meet some of the kids, come meet some of the parents, come have them put into terms in their own words what your support could mean to the league," says Morton.
