Chris Stigall Talks To Conservative Author Jack Cashill About His New Book

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jack Cashill, author of the new book Scarlet Letter: The Ever-Increasing Intolerance of the Cult of Liberalism Exposed, criticized what he called the prejudices of liberals and the American left.

Cashill told Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT that liberals want to use the power of the state to crush their opponents.

"Our liberal friends, who once used to consider us misguided, now think us immoral or sinful. Then having discovered that we're sinful, they want the civil authorities to intervene to punish us for our sins. I'm not just speaking hypothetically. Talk to the Kleins out in Oregon, when you don't want to bake a cake, the next thing you know, you're on the verge of going to prison."

He also accused liberals of changing the rules to entrap conservatives.

"I always thought that fascism or totalitarianism were just too strong but I use the phrase neo-puritanism because in many ways they mimic the 17th century authorities in Boston who gave Hester Prynn her scarlet A for adultery. But at least Hester Prynn knew she had done wrong. This is a law that had been on the books for about 3000 years, but today, you can be committing a hate crime and not even know you're committing one."

Cashill stated liberals only care about their own power and will do anything to keep it.

"The goal of the left isn't to protect children. The goal of the left is to advance the left. What you do is you remove those institutional impediments like the Catholic Church or the Boy Scouts of America and you bring them to their knees and then you have no more resistance."
