When hiring for your company, what do you look for in an employee?

"The first thing we look for is that the candidate is a cultural fit and that they have the aptitude to succeed. Culture and aptitude are mission critical. When a business is growing at such a fast pace like we are, you need team members who are high energy and share our vision of success. We want them to be passionate about making a difference to the company, and encourage a 'political-free' zone. That puts some people on their heels, but it also creates a safe environment where anyone, at any level, can speak up and offer their views."

What advice would you give to someone entering into your field?

"Don't worry about what you don't know. Sometimes being able to think without preconceived ideas results in some of the best game changing ideas. Thinking big is hard, but throwing caution to the wind and envisioning what success looks like is the beginning of that next big thing. At CoreDial, much of our success is due to the fact that we didn't know how legacy platform providers sold, delivered, managed, and invoiced for Unified Communications and cloud services. As a result, we innovated a SaaS platform for the channel that is changing the game."

What changes have you observed in the past year as far as business growth and hiring practices are concerned?

"At CoreDial, we've been growing at a consistent breakneck pace for years. Running and growing at the pace we are, really opens your eyes to the importance of on-time recruiting. Another trend in hiring practices is promoting your culture. First you have to have one, and be able to articulate it well. And you need to know how to show candidates how they can internalize the culture, and make it part of their professional and personal development efforts. Finally, we're recruiting in the fourth or fifth largest metropolitan areas in the country, and competing for candidates in a tight labor market can make it difficult to find the right kind of people."

What type of education do you need for a position in your field?

"Candidates typically need a four-year bachelor degree, although leaders might often have a more advanced degree. Again, given our fast growth, we are often looking for people a couple few years out of college that show they have an understanding of how a business works and how they can do the job. We certainly love people right out of college as well, as long as the department in question has the right mentors to help that person to apply themselves and succeed here at CoreDial."
