Philadelphia Fire Department To Receive Over $22 Million From FEMA

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Senator Bob Casey announced that the Philadelphia Fire Department would be receiving some monetary aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The department will receive $22,896,960 from FEMA.

The money awarded to the department will go toward hiring under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.

"Pennsylvania's firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe," Casey said in a statement on Thursday. "This money will help the Philadelphia Fire Department recruit and maintain skilled first responders to ensure the safety of the city, its residents and its visitors."
