Fans Speak Fondly Of Hamels After Word Of Reported Trade

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An official announcement still hasn't come from either of the teams involved, but according to numerous reports, the Phillies have traded star pitcher Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers for a handful of the Rangers top minor league prospects. And while many knew it was inevitable, few fans were happy to see Hamels go.

Fans lined up outside Citizens Bank Park had plenty of opinions to share, and many weren't happy to see Hamels go if the team is only getting prospects in return.

"They don't work out quite often, and I'm a little nervous about this because you're getting the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 17th or whatever prospects of that organization. Not the first."

Another says,"The pitching was so bad to begin with, and what they got it'll be three years before the fans see anything."

While not many people were on board with the trade, all had fond memories of the pitcher to share like his recent no-hitter and his World Series MVP, calling him one of the best pitchers in the team's history.

"Thank you, you were awesome. It's been wonderful watching him mature as a pitcher, and as a player, and a teammate. I wish him luck. I wish him luck."

Some fans also thanked Hamels for his charity work in the city through the Hamels Foundation.
