Plaster Falls On Prospective Penn State Students

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (CBS) —  Officials say one person suffered minor injuries when a section of the balcony in the Schwab Auditorium fell just before 11:30 Monday morning.

According to Penn State officials, a section of plaster ceiling fell, with some debris falling in the aisle and some falling on seats.

Officials say about 500 people were in the auditorium at the time as part of one of the Summer Days by Undergraduate Admissions, which is a program for prospective students and their families.

The victim was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, and another individual was examined and released by medical technicians on site, according to Penn State.

Officials say building engineers and environmental health and safety teams are currently investigating the building and it is closed until further notice.

Officials say the program was relocated to the Thomas Building.
