Pa. State Police Still Searching For Clues In Cold Case Murder, 20 Years Later

By Jim Melwert

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Twenty years after a woman's head and torso were found in Chester County, and her legs found in Bucks County, police are once again reaching out to the public for help in trying to identify her.

In July of 1995 a body was found in East Caln Township.

"A fisherman came along a suitcase at the edge or just into the water of a small creek," says trooper first class Chad Roberts.

Roberts handles cold cases for the Pennsylvania State Police and says in that suitcase was a woman's head and torso.

"Six months later," he says, "they discover the legs in Bucks County."

Roberts says authorities have done all they can think of to identify the woman, but still, 20-years-later, she remains a Jane Doe.

"Where was she from, did something happen to her where she was, where she lived, who was close to her," he says, "you don't know who her friends were or anything."

Not having much to go on, police believe the victim is between 18-40 years old about 5'3" and 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Investigators say no tip is too small. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Roberts at 717-299-7650.
