Teenager Critical Following Single-Car Crash In Delaware

MILFORD, D.E., (CBS) -- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious crash involving a 17-year-old which took place in Milford on Monday.

According to authorities, preliminary investigations show that Tremayne Michael Lofland, 17, was traveling on Cedar Beach Road just after 11:30 a.m. when the incident occurred. Lofland, who was traveling in a Mazda 626, was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed according to authorities as he failed to properly handle a right hand curve before going off the road.

Authorities say Lofland side swiped a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle and struck another tree with the right side of the front bumper. The incident left the vehicle stuck between two trees.

Lofland was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Authorities continue to investigate this incident. Cedar Beach Road was closed for about two hours as the incident was cleaned up and investigated.
