Sam Bradford Ranked No. 2 NFL Training Camp Storyline

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In Philadelphia, it's something sports fan have been debating for months. It's something folks around here can't wait to see play out. Around these parts, Sam Bradford (with much thanks to the 32-62 putrid baseball team) has captivated the sports landscape.

But the Bradford yelling is not just going on in the Delaware Valley. It's a top national story.

In fact, SI.com's Peter King ranked "the reincarnation of Sam Bradford" as the second best NFL training camp storyline in his five-page online preview, only behind the obvious leader in the club house---the "fate of Tom Brady."

"Chip Kelly better know what he's doing," King Wrote. "(Somehow, I don't think that's the first time that's been said this off-season.) In the 31 months since New Year's Day 2013, Bradford, the first pick in the 2010 draft, has played seven football games. He's lost four. His 2013 and 2014 seasons were both ended by a torn ACL. Kelly acquired Bradford from the Rams in March, then tried like crazy to trade for Marcus Mariota six weeks later. And so this is a mildly important training camp for Bradford. And for Kelly."

King, who will be at Eagles training camp on August 13th, also listed 32 players in the spotlight---one for each team---as camp looms.

For the Eagles? Bradford, of course, while Greg Hardy of the Cowboys, Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants, and Robert Griffin III for the Redskins rounded out King's most pressured players in the NFC East.

The Bradford-debate is unquestionably the most argued sports topic on Philadelphia talk radio, in offices, at bars, on Twitter, and among friends this summer. However, Bradford is just a sub-topic under Kelly, the far more disputed and important figure.

Eagles fans and analysts that support Kelly will find pro-Bradford evidence, while those who dislike Kelly will find themselves questioning the former No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma, often (and fairly) pointing to injury concerns.

Bradford, Kelly, and the Eagles open training camp on Sunday, August 2nd at the NovaCare Complex.
