New Face Moving Up Late Night TV Talk Show Ranks

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A longtime news anchor is shaking up the late night TV scene with a new show geared toward women. It has been picked up nationally and will air in Philadelphia.

Bianca de la Garza left a 17-year career in news to launch her own late-night talk show -- Bianca.

"I was drawn to the fact that I was connecting with my audience and connecting with women on more powerful broader issues, so I decided to start my own media company and create a show that would be that platform," she tells KYW Newsradio.

Bianca says the show is reflective of the void she saw in late-night TV:

"It's spontaneous, it's talk its entertaining but really from a woman's perspective. As a single mom who's about to turn 40 I really felt like it was time for us to have a show that tackles the issues and poke fun at some of the things us ladies have to deal with."

The half hour show is co-produced by Bianca's own company Lucky Gal productions and covers a variety of topics from pop culture to fitness as well as celebrity interviews.

"It's more about people who will come to play and bring the unexpected," she says. "I mean that really is the environment on my show. When we have a celebrity on you can sure as well bet they're not really prepped and people sort of have to let their guard down and play with me"

Bianca airs Saturday nights at 11:35pm on CBS.
