DRPA Hires Second Ever Inspector General To Oversee Agency's Efforts

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Inspector General office at the Delaware River Port Authority has been empty for the better part of a year. But the agency this week tapped a veteran former FBI agent to take over the post.
David Gentile of Laurel Springs succeeds Tom Raftery, who left last fall complaining he couldn't adequately do his job. Raftery was brought on board in 2012 as part of a series of reform measures at the agency.
"We have him here because we want to get rid of any waste, fraud or abuse that we may have here and that's his specific role to help us with that and help improve functions where we can improve," says DRPA Board chairman Ryan Boyce.
Board member Anthony DePasquale, who serves as Pennsylvania Auditor General, says Gentile brings two important things to the table:
"Number one, from an auditing standpoint, it's about improving functions and helping this organization become even more efficient and number two is his independent credibilities."
In addition to two decades at the FBI, Gentile worked in labor relations at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and currently runs his own security firm. He'll divest those interests to join the DRPA.
