Police Searching For Suspect In Center City Beneficial Bank Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Police are searching for the suspect of a robbery of the Beneficial Bank at 1600 and Chestnut Street in center city.

This happened around 10:50 Friday morning when a man in his mid 30's entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. Police believe the suspect is approximately 6 foot tall, with blond or light red hair and goatee.

Bank surveillance video showed the suspect wearing a dark-colored short sleeve shirt with a large red Polo horse logo on the left chest, black shorts, and a dark- colored Phillies hat.

It is still unknown how much money was taken from the bank when the man fled the scene on foot. Authorities say he was last seen heading north on 16th street.

Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about this robbery is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department.
